Indubitably, I am the sort of person who religiously follows the same cosmetics routine despite being nosey for other’s morning routines: you’d think with all the hauls I read about, I’d be persuaded to venture off in search of new products; yet this hasn’t been the case for several months.
So, what products have I been using consistently?…
Etude House Watermelon Fresh Squeeze Juice Cleansing Foam 🍉
Around this time last year I received a free sample of this cleansing foam with a small purchase. I have a habit of collecting free samples and not using them, reason being… Well that’s just what hoarders do. Don’t judge me. Anyway, I finally got round to using the free sample this Winter and was pleasantly suprised by the cleanser. I initially assumed that it was just a gimmicky skincare product; everyone loves watermelon so why wouldn’t you want to swear it all over your face? – Am I right? The scent isn’t as prominent as I anticipated, although this factor is forgiven thanking to the refreshing feel the creamy foam leaves. There’s plenty of foam cleansers than can even dry out oily skin, but this one doesn’t strip away all of the essential oils that are naturally produced by our skin. For 5,000₩ (£3.43/$4.43/€3.92), it’s rather affordable considering its performance. What’s more they sell pineapple and apple versions for you weirdos who dislike watermelon.
Litfly, Nose Pore Cleansing Brush
At nightime I use a manual face brush from Daiso to thoroughly remove traces of impurities which have accumulated over the course of a day. Whereas in the morning I steer clear of overally exfoliating by using the full face brush in the morning as I will have used it just the night before. Alternatively I use this tiny, soft nose brush from Yestyle to pin-point sebum that will have built-up overnight. It’s not abrasive in the slightest.
Sidmool Green Tea Skin
I included this spray toner in my Autumn favourites 2018 post, so to avoid repeating myself I’m not going describe it in detail in this post. What I will confidently state is after 6 months of using this toner, it has definitely aided the absorption of hydration from the moisturisers and serums I use in both my morning and night skincare routines. I haven’t experienced any irritation when using this product, and have now begun using it before applying sheet masks in order to further benefit from the product.
Olay Complete Sensitive Day Cream
Sometimes it’s good to have the basics within reach. I specifically chose this moisturiser because its thick without the greasiness. A little goes a long way and I appreciate the added SPF 15 ingredients, as it’s important to use SPF all year round. I feel like Olay is preferred or at least targetted at women aged 40+, however I think it’s a great brand for people who want to care for there skin but don’t necessarily have an interest in or requirement for finding products that have specialist qualities or functions. I would like to see the brand be inclusive of male customers, as their basic sensitive skincare range could be a suitable addition to someone’s facial hair shaving routine.
Nivea Bright Up Lip Balm – Apricot Pink
Recently someone gifted me this lip balm from Japan. Its common knowledge that Nivea is a German brand belonging to Beiersdorf Global. Somehow Japan has a license to produce official Nivea products that are exclusive to Japan: this ability also applys to other brands including Rimmel London. This lip balm in particular is popular among Korean & Chinese tourists, some even go to lengths of purchasing them in bulk. So what makes it unique from the common Nivea lip balms sold across Europe, and beyond? Aside from the slimmer packaging, the lip balm itself appears to have a thinner consistency but provides the same amount of hydration as the classic Nivea balm for example. Disappointingly, its non-scented and flavourless. Best of all its non-tacky.
L’Oréal Paris True Match Foundation
Throughout the majority of the year I wear shade 1.N Ivory, but right now I think 1.C Rose Ivory (there lightest shade) would be fitting. I think everyone by now knows about this foundation, so I’ll save you from too much detail. The main reason I love it is because of the shade precision which I usually struggle with. It’s non-greasy, giving a satin finish. To be truthful I don’t feel the need to test out another foundation. If L’Oréal could make a True Match BB cream line, I’d be even more satisfied.
Revolution SuperSize Conceal & Define Full Coverage Concealer
When she says ‘full coverage’, she isn’t messing around 🙌 I use shades C1 and C2 . I’m contemplating whether to try the corresponding foundation, but I don’t think I need that much coverage. If you have an issue with getting concealer to stay inplace over extended hours, then you certainly have to join the hype over this product.
Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder
The powder contains natural minerals and mint sourced from Jeju Island. I’m not totally committed to this powder, I’m yet to find a better replacement (sorry for the unpopular opinion). Regardless I do favour it for it’s blurring effects.
Daiso Cherry Blossom Blending Brush
This brush only cost 1,000₩, so it’s far from ‘Real Techniques’ standards but fairly good for getting the job done. Most of the time I don’t use it for blending eyeshadow; instead it doubles as a small powder brush for powdering undereyes or apply base eyeshadow. It’s not too delicate nor hard.
과일나라 (kwailnara) White Floral Perfume Water Essence
On days when hair oil isn’t a must, I use this hair perfume to smooth out stray hairs and minor frizz. It simply refreshing in comparison to using hair spray or water. I don’t think it’s sold anywhere but Daiso, however Welcos Kwailnara have other products sold via Amazon, Ebay, Mishibox and Yestyle.
I’m meme Tic Toc Satin Lipstick – Coral Tutu (005)
Of course as my favourite makeup item, my lipstick choice varies day-by-day. Lately, I’ve stuck to this I’m meme lipstick because it feels more alike a lip balm and coral/peach lip colours are becoming popular in Korea for this upcoming Spring.
Dolce & Gabbana – Dolce Rosa Excelsa 🌹
My signature scent is Rose. The top, middle and low notes of this perfume are all centred around Roses and it isn’t mixed with much else. I’m not able to describe fragrances and am very fussy when it comes to selecting perfumes and body mists. Rosa Excelsa is the only designer item I can willing spend my money on, and after 2 years of cherishing it sadly this bottle is almost empty.
