Even if you have never come across another Dr. G skincare product before, its still highly likely that you have stumbled upon this face sunscreen one way or another. Currently, for a prolonged time now, this sunscreen has remained the most sold & top rated product of it’s category on leading kbeauty distributing websites: both in Korea & Internationally. I think due to my location, the brand’s advertisements dominated my Facebook and Instagram pages; so I don’t know if this is the case abroad.
When I buy a suncream the factors I consider the most when selecting which would be suitable are the SPF, high UV protection and lastly the price. Sunscreens are without a doubt increasing in price, not just due to their ever-improving formulations, but also because people are becoming more and more aware of the negative effects of not using a daily sunscreen even in cooler, less sunny seasons of the year.
At first I didn’t intend to purchase this product. I don’t often like to fall into the hype of buying favourable products when I can find low costing, yet safe alternatives that work well for me personally. Someone brought this for me, and also one for theirself, as they really value self-care products that can avoid skin damage and premature aging: in a way it has been part of their upbringing/East-Asian culture unlike in parts of the Western side of the World.
So, what’s so special about this sunscreen?
💚 It mineral based formula prevents white casting and enables fast absorbtion.
💚 It contains anti-pollution ingredients to protect, and shield skin from environmental factors and Blue light (- whether it filters blue lights to cause less damage to skin, or reflects it is not clear) .
💚 Reflects UVA & UVB rays.
💚 Its SPF50+ PA++++.
💚 Added Panthenol strengthens the outer layer of our skin.
💚 It has been designed with all skin types in mind, including sensitive skin (- allegedly approved with a “skin-irritation” safety test).
The most noticable effect is the semi-matte finish without whitecasting as the brand claims. As soon as I gently patted it onto my skin the texture changed from a typical glossy feel, to a soft almost powder like texture. I didn’t have to wait to apply makeup over the top of it, nor did it disturb the placement of my base makeup throughout the day even if my skin is oily.
I can’t express any concerns or doubts about the performance of this suncream; I assume time will tell. I will say I do think its overpriced especially as the 50ml tube was only half-full (it was definitely sealed and hadn’t been tampered with).
There isn’t many face sunscreens available within the UK skin protection market, so it can be hard to know what to look for when selecting among the larger variety of Korean or Japanese face sunscreens. To save confusion, the Dr. G Green Mild Up Sunscreen could be a simple choice.
