In order to minimise the steps in your skincare routine, it’s a good idea to utilise multi-functional products like the ‘Some By Mi – AHA•BHA•PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner/ 썸바이미 나하•바하•피하 30 데이즈 미라클 토너. It claims to provide pore care, brighten skin tone & enhance skin’s moisture levels with the use of multiple variations of Hydroxy Acids. Some notable inclusions are Tea Tree Leaf Water/티트리잎수 (10,000ppm), Niacinamide/나이아신아마이드 (2%), Papaya extract/파파야매추출물, Allantoin/알란토인, Witch Hazel/버지니아풍년화추출물, Salicylic acid/살리실릭애씨드 & Lactobionic acid/락토바이오닉애씨드 both 100ppm each. In regards to the ’30 day miracle’ part of its title, I can only assume that with consistent use of over approximately a one month period, skin should appear to have benefited from the gentle exfoliation & low pH ingredients – even if you have troubled sensitive skin.

First of all, I like how this toner is ‘watery’ – it means it can be layered easily if felt needed without causing heaviness before you’ve even reached the end of you skincare routine. For the same reason I’d say this toner is most suited to normal/combination/oily skin types; even in the presence of sensitivity and/or acne prone skin. I was expecting it to have a potent witch hazel scent or tea tree scent, but it’s more like a toned-down menthol scent (- very refreshing). Just after 3 days of day & night use, I recognised skin texture improvement – particularly on my chin area & the ceases around my nostrils.

The more I use it, the more I can see that it’s smoothing out uneven skin texture as well as minimising redness. Even if my skin is hyper sensitive I haven’t experienced any irritation from this toner whatsoever (as long as you ensure to wear SPF on days that you use this PHA infused product). I especially recommend using it in conjunction to the serum of the same range to keep breakouts at bay & restore hydration after the use of sebum absorbent foam cleansers or clay masks.

Some By Mi – AHA•BHA•PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum

The ‘Some By Mi AHA.BHA.PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum’ includes Centella Asiatica Extract (14.5%), whereas the corresponding toner favours Niacinamide more greatly. Tea tree leaf water (10,000ppm) remains a key ingredient in this Serum alike the other products within the range; however several different ingredients contribute to this Serum – which I now use everyday regardless if I’m testing out other skincare. For instance malic acid, glycolic acid, wintergreen leaf extract, cranberry, basil, lilac, rice, meadow foam, propanediol, etc. The main functions of this Serum, is to soothe skin & strengthen it’s barrier.

First impressions: After 4 consecutive days of use, twice per day, I felt as is the Serum absorbs well with limited residue. It’s very lightweight & liquidy – making it ideal for placing underneath semi-thick emulsions or moisturisers on top of it. I wish I had this Serum at hand during the humid months last year in Korea, because it hydrates oily skin well without promoting excess sebum production the t-zone. Some days I find that using the Miracle toner, the Miracle Serum + a suitable SPF are enough skincare for daytime, as the Serum is quite rich despite being watery (in some ways it resembles a light oil moreso than a serum). Overall I’m impressed with this serum’s ability to care for Oily Sensitive skin, & for the same reasons I believe those who live in humid climates or have combination skin will benefit from using it too.
