[#Gifted] MASK MONDAYS: JMsolution Water Luminous S.O.S Ampoule Double In Mask Review πŸ’§

Welcome to my new weekly blog segment: “Mask Mondays“! As the title obviously suggests this blog series will specifically focus on mini sheet mask reviews. I’ve reviewed countless sheet masks here on SimplyEm’sBlog and Instagram over the last few years, but I don’t do that as often nowadays.

So for those who have asked me for personalised sheet mask recommendations and for those who enjoy shorter blog posts, this may be something you’d like to stay tuned for as I have accumulated a basket full of masks – some new to me and some recurring favourites – which I’d like to share with you to help you hunt down the best Korean and Japanese sheet masks available online. From time to time their may be some Chinese and Western sheet masks to discuss too.

For our first Mask Mondays, we’ll be taking a look at the JMsolution Water Luminous S.O.S Ampoule Double In Mask.

Key info:
β€’ This is a two step mask which requires both compartments to be combined for a fresh pairing of their intensive Hyaluronic Acid ampoule with their favourable soft & silky, moisturising sheet mask.

β€’ The ampoule contains 3 forms of Hyaluronic Acid to create a synergy effect once the upgraded ampoule and essence, contained within the initially separate halves of the mask, are thoroughly mixed together.

β€’ To provide an “S.O.S” element to the skin treatment, the mask has been formulated with 5 types of fermented extracts to nourish troubled skin and aid the recovery of skin imperfections.
12 varieties of vitamins and peptides/amino acids mostly derived for plant extracts contribute to improving skin’s overall health.

First impressions:
As I often aim to have some form of specialist at-home skin treatment for boosting the strength of my skin barrier with probiotics and prebiotics, I was glad to see that ferments contribute to a large portion of the mask’s formula and key functions. Furthermore it was initially appealing that I could get double benefits from one treatment considering the focus on unlocking and blending the essence and ampoule at time of use, rather than them being premixed.

My experience:
The packaging is too fiddly, taking quite some pressure in order to actually squeeze the lower half of the mask into the upper section for use. I thought it was going to burst, but the two sections merged together on what probably was my 10th attempt (and no, this isn’t an exaggeration). In the end I whacked it with my fist… I wouldn’t suggest that you do this, maybe that particular one was just tricky to disperse. I tried to take a video of myself showing you how easy it is to mix everything together, but it would be half filled with censoring because it was so frustrating and far for a piece of cake πŸ˜…

The packaging issue aside, I really like this mask. I can fully appreciate why JMsolution has remained a popular choice among the selection of masks available at Korean drugstores. The sheet is super soft, maybe not as gentle as my beloved green enzyme sheet which Dewytree use for some of their sheet masks or those by The Pure Lotus, but JMsolution really know how to make a contour hugging mask that doesn’t cause lifting throughout wear.

Another unique point which aids the mask’s ability to adhere well to skin, is that it has a embossed texture similar to that of fingerprints. The slight ripples in the fabric aren’t really seen until the majority of the ampoule is absorbed, although I firmly believe this textual element helps the material to stick to skin without needing the be adjusted as it dries.

To me this provides a sufficient amount of hydration without too much residue. Its a rather convenient way to ensure you get a top-up of Hyaluronic Acid plus ingredient ferments into your skincare routines. The ampoule is slightly on the runny side but the mask holds most of it so there’s minimal wastage.

Sometimes using amino acid rich masks everyday can cause breakouts, so I think using this mask just 3 times per week would be most sensible and beneficial.

Fit: 8/10, had to overlap the mask near my jawline and at the sides of my face as it was a little too wide for me.

Price point: Good, low~mid range price point. It cheaper in the long run to buy a box of 10 rather than individually.

Impact: 7/10, does satisfy more than one skin concern but will need to be used consistently to see lasting results.

Repurchase: Yes, absolutely. And now I’m intrigued to try more JMsolution sheet masks.

Overall rating: 8.5/10.

You can find these masks at ROSEROSESHOP – an online retailer specialising in K-beauty. The ship Worldwide directly for Korea. Among all the major Korean beauty websites I’ve encountered they are among the cheapest offering wholesale prices and often have large discounts. Usually a box of 10 JMsolution sheet mask would set you back by almost $18, however for some time now ROSEROSESHOP have been offering them at a bargain of $6.50~$11 per box depending on the type. Be mindful that this doesn’t account for international shipping fees.
