๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ My Korean Skincare Top-Picks on Shopee ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ

I bring you today’s blog post with a feeling of gratitude. Over the past couple of years I have consistently received a lot of appreciation and support from fellow bloggers and K-beauty enthusiasts residing in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand. Sometimes I feel that I don’t have much of an ability to help you guys, but for some reason you’ve stuck around for the journey or the mess that is SimplyEm’sBlog ๐Ÿ˜… Thank you for all your lovely comments, feedback and the little chats over on Instagram!

With this in mind I wanted to put together a simple guide for everyone – especially for those from the countries I just mentioned as it involves SHOPEE! Unfortunately we don’t have Shopee here in the UK, however I’m well aware that it’s a website of great variety and is often the go-to for all your K-beauty needs.

This post will cover my top K-beauty skin care picks from Shoppe. I have selected one product of each product type or category to make an entire 8 step Korean skin care routine. I have tried to remain as inclusive as possible with my selection by considering how most of you may have either sensitive, combination or oily skin types which – as a result of the humid climate – also requires care for acne or inner dehydration.

Unfortunately I don’t have my own photographs of each item, because I don’t have the products anymore as I used most of them years ago. However as a little extra, I’ve included my own photo of additional korean skincare products which I recommend and are also available on Shopee. A list of these items will be at the end of the blog post*

Let’s take a look at what Shopee has to offer…

ROUND LAB – Dokdo 1025 Cleansing Oil & Cleansing Foam

Of course we have to start off with cleansing products. Shoppe favours Laneige and Mamonde who have some nice cleansing foams, although I’d rather recommend this Round lab cleansing oil for pore maintenance without depriving skin of moisture. Round Lab are notoriously known for their refreshing watery toner belonging to the same Dokdo line, however I think this cleansing oil deserves more recognition and praise.

It’s a light and fresh oil suitable for daily use to cleanse away strongly pigmented makeup as well as other impurities. It contains Meadowfoam seed oil, grape seed oil, evening primrose oil and avocado oil – which all contribute to a useful blackhead removal treatment. If you soak a cotton pad with this oil and leave the pad to sit on your t-zone for 5 minutes, the oil will focus more greatly on cleaning out deeper impurities which are sometimes missed with the standard method of using cleansing oil.

I highly recommend that you double cleanse with the Dokdo cleansing foam following the use of the oil, to thoroughly cleanse to avoid breakouts and reduce the amount of sebum that accumulates on the surface of skin. This cleansing foam won’t dry out skin if you use it in moderation; by this I mean only use it once per day and not both morning and evening. A little goes a long way as it lathers well with a bubble maker/net. Look out for special deals on Shopee as sometimes they sell the cleansing oil, cleansing foam, toner and pads in a collective set! Most – if not all – Round Lab Dokdo skin care are alcohol and fragrance free.

DEAR KLAIRS – Supple Preparation Unscented Toner

Klairs products aren’t hard to come by on Shopee, and maybe you aren’t a stranger to them considering how Klairs is usually one of the first K-beauty brands people try since they skyrocketed to success. Shopee sell all 4 of Klairs’ toners – the one that I think is best suited to skin that has to endure humid weather is the Supple Preparation Unscented Toner. What can I say? – Its just perfect and not over complicated. It preps skin for receiving the benefits and hydration of the skin care steps to come then after without any heavy feeling to skin. Simply it’s refreshing and a great staple piece in anyone’s skin care routines.

Its essential oil free, balances skin’s pH level, provides deep hydration effects which is even essential for combination and oily skin types, and provides slight soothing effects to sensitive skin or after prolonged expose to sunlight. If you are interested in “toner pad masking”, then this is the type of toner best for that technique as it doesn’t mattify skin or contain alcohol. It further has the additional benefit of smoothing out uneven skin texture with just the right amount of citric acid from citrus fruits. Interestingly, Natto gum (fermented soy bean extract) largely contributes to how it makes skin more bouncy and supple.

AXIS-Y – Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum

Aside from using a moisturiser, a serum is one of the most crucial steps in a skin care routine for ensuring the delivery of targeted and specialist ingredients that take care of a main concern. Serums also ensure that our hydration levels remain consistent for as long as possible throughout wear. Not all of us have dark spots, so I can understand if you want to give this serum a miss, I just want to empathise how beneficial incorporating a product like this into your routine will serve you well in the long run. Layering the SPF is without a doubt key to preventing premature aging, but dark spot correctors ideally should be used even before dark spots appear.

I see many people using this serum in thin layers to maintain a more glowy and youthful appearance in replacement to a heavy skin brightening oil for instance. It also acts as a good primer if luminous makeup primers aren’t your thing. This AXIS-Y Serum contains Niacinamide, papaya extracts, sea buckthorn and oryza sativa rice bran to reduce hyperpigmentation. Whereas squalene works on fighting free radials and balances oil production. Allantoin calms skin inflammation and minor irritation. Last but not least it includes calendula for coaxing skin’s cell recovery cycle and protection against UV damage. All in all, it’s an all round serum. What more could you want?

DEAR KLAIRS – Rich Moist Soothing Cream

Its no surprise that another Klairs item has made it into this list: I don’t regret my choice placing it here. Some of you will be thrown-off by the word “rich” in the name of this cream – it’s somewhat misleading. This isn’t a thick moisturiser which will ruin the whole ‘lightweight buildable layering’ theme we have going on in this top-picks list. Essentially this is a prime example of how a modern day moisturiser should be. It’s more rich than a gel-cream but it’s not like the moisturiser your Mum would have used back in the day. Does that make sense? … let’s just say this cream is the perfect medium between a lotion and a cream.

I don’t think I need to introduce this product much further; surely you’ve seen it pop-up on Instagram or somewhere else. All you need to know is that it rescues skin by fortifying the skin’s natural moisture barrier with yeast-derived beta glucan. It locks in moisture whilst strengthening weakened skin which most of us have even if our skin isn’t necessarily dry or sensitive. If you want to start to take ‘barrier strengthening’ seriously without fuss, this cream is the way to go.

SOMEBYMI AHA.BHA.PHA 14 Days Super Miracle Spot All Kill Cream

… well that’s a long name. It’s pretty much self explanatory. This is a spot treatment which ties in with their AHA – BHA – PHA Miracle range. I love the range overall, yet I think this spot treatment isn’t spoken about as widely as the matching toner and serum. I settled on this spot cream because its moreso a gel-type cream; allowing it to sit on blemishes smoothly rather than standout like a gooey balm spot treatment or tea tree oil which is shiny.

It holds a generous 10,000ppm of D-Panthenol and is dual-functional. It works on clearing away pimples as well as helping to reduce the likeliness of scarring or long-lasting redness. Again its another product to reinforce skin barrier with 750,000ppm of Truecicaโ„ข (formed with Centella Asiatica extracts).

INNISFREE – Blueberry Rebalancing Watery Essence Sun Cream

Now this is my personal favourite in this list. I discovered this sun cream whilst living in Korea, after trying the corresponding blueberry cleaning foam. This quickly became my favourite compact sized sun cream for throwing in my bag on day when I needed to go out for longer periods of time and wouldn’t be home to reapply it. Its texture is comparable to a few Biore sun screens – minus the strong alcohol scent. Its only a small tube so this is mainly ideal for on-the-go. It’s SPF45 PA+++.

It can be described as a milky sun cream without the white cast. And yes, it’s lightweight with a quick absorbtion rate so it won’t disturb the placement of your base makeup if you wish to apply any. Among the choices of sun cream on Shopee, this is the most inclusive of all skin types as it contains antioxidants and isn’t matte nor too glossy. Apart from blueberries its key ingredients are chia seed and Centella Asiatica.

MAMONDE – Calming Hydro Sleeping Mask

I’d like to end this list with a sleeping mask instead of a sheet mask or facial oil. I used to think sleeping masks were a gimmick, but with regular use 3~4 times per week they can really help regulate a good water~oil balance which can easily become disturbed if you have combination/oily skin or live in a humid environment. Using sleeping masks made a big change in my skin’s firmness and plumpness, so I encourage you to give it a try for yourself personally.

Once more this is another calendula product. It calms skin and helps tackle the negative consequences of sun expose whilst you rest at night. If you’re looking for good value for money, then this sleeping mask is a good option. You only need a finger nail sized amount per time, meaning this tub could last as long as 6 months depending on how frequently you reach for it.

So, that concludes my Shopee post. This isn’t sponsored in any shape or form, I just decided to write it by my own free will. I hope you find it useful and again I’m thankful for your support. If you have any Shopee recommendations of your own, please share them in the comments section for others who pass by to read this post! Thanks for reading.
