To everyone who’s in lockdown, how are you coping? Mentally I’m feeling ok today despite this so called ‘blue Monday’ that comes around every January. So I feel motivated to upload a K-Beauty review everyday this week.
The product I’ve chosen today is the Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner from Skin Library (discount code and link to their website can be found at the end of this blog post). Acwell is a brands I’ve known about for a few years, but never got around to trying until know. I’ve heard many positive things about the brand, especially from those living in humid countries of South East Asia, with sensitive oily skin types.
Why I choose this product?
• This toner contains Acwell’s Puritox patented formula – a complex of highly refined oriental herbs which bring relief to sensitive skin types. This unique formula is greatly inspired by intrinsic Korean ingredients common in traditional dermatology.
• Made with Licorice root extract for its anti-inflammatory and brightening properties, Peony Water to provide antioxidants which fight off free-radicals and Green Tea as another star ingredient for supplying antioxidants, etc. which tackle blemishes common among imbalanced skin types.
• Removes surface debris whilst replenishing hydration.
• pH 5.5
• Vegan.
Is it worth trying?
I’ve been using this toner for almost 1 month now and I can say it’s a very helpful addition to my skincare routine. It was evident from the first use that this toner is very calming for sensitive skin. My skin didn’t reduce in redness immediately, but the soothing effects are prominent. Whenever my skin feels itchy after cleansing, I rely on this watery toner to bring comfort to my skin.
Because of this toner’s additional cleansing functionalities, I sometimes use this as my cleanser/toner in the morning time. Now I know multi-step skincare products usually aren’t that great for skin, but if you have inner dehydrated skin cleansing twice daily can be excessive. So even as someone with oily skin, I don’t always use a rinse-off cleanser in the morning, because sometimes that can lead to over cleansing which just creates a vicious cycle of have imbalanced skin and my skin will just get even oiler.
Therefore, as I said, some mornings I use this cleansing toner for both my cleansing and toner steps. It makes skin feel more refreshed and it’s more impactful that just washing your face with water alone at the start of a day. Of course don’t entirely eliminate cleansers from your routine when using a cleansing toner like this one.
