Mask Mondays: Dr. Jart Soothing Hydra Solution Sheet Mask 💧

I don’t know what happened lately, but my skin has been feeling extra irritated and I have some breakouts on my chin that stayed inflamed for longer than what’s usual for me. So I opened this Dr.Jart+ Soothing Hydra Solution sheet mask from Skencos, which I’ve been saving aside for a time like now, when soothing ingredients are most helpful and an additional surge of hydration will aid in the healing process of the acne.

This sheet mask is really well known, even outside of Korea, so I’ll skip some of the details. All you need to know is that it’s for sensitive skin. It contains Aquaxyl and Dr.Jart’s ‘Quick-Soothing Complex’. In other words it’s rich in Panthenol, Aloe and Anhydroxylitol – a plant-derived humectant which is free from allergens.

Full ingredients

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Panthenol, Betaine, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris Extract, Pinus Densiflora Leaf Extract, Thuja Orientalis Extract, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Leaf Extract, Chlorphenesin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Schizandra Chinensis Fruit Extract, Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium, Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Carbomer, Arginine, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Acorus Calamus Root Extract, Perilla Ocymoides Leaf Extract, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, PEG-10 Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polyglutamic Acid, Methylpropanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf Oil.

Fit: 8.5/10. The fit is near perfect, at least it adheres closely to skin without shifting during use.

Price point: 5/10. In the UK it can be a bit pricey, costing around £4-£6 per sheet on average. Although I often see this stocked at TK-MAXX for around £2.99.

Impact: 7/10: It’s very hydrating despite the essence being lightweight and not creamy. It definitely provides calming effects to skin and minimised the majority of redness. I will say I was surprised to see alcohol high up in the ingredients list. It doesn’t smell strongly of alcohol nor did it cause irritation. Is it possible for the soothing ingredients to counteract the negative effects of some alcohols? – Maybe *shrug*.

Repurchase?: Yes, but not if marked at full price.

Overall rating: 7/10.

  1. I have yet to try Dr Jart! I don’t exactly know how I’ve never come close to it but I guess it might be the price point that scares me a bit haha. Still, I am intrigued – especially by their gel masks? (I don’t remember the name word for word).

  2. This and also the Vital Hydra Solution sheet mask have alcohol up high on the ingredients list and I like both of them a lot!

I would have to say though that the brightening solution (my personal MVP) and the red one targeted at breakouts are much better in terms of efficacy. Have you tried either of those?

    1. No I haven’t tried either yet, but I believe I have the brightening solution in my stash somewhere. Thanks for your recommendations, I’ll certainly be looking into them soon 👍
