I’m glad that I can use this little corner of the internet to introduce you to a fantastic, upcoming online Korean Skincare shop which I have had the pleasure of collaborating with for this blog post. And that is no other than Skin2Seoul – a UK based online store specialising in Korean beauty/cosmetics and personal care products. Skin2seoul was founded in 2019 by Farah and Zainab, they’re passionate about skincare and skin health, and carefully select each and every product that goes onto their website to give skincare lovers and newbies to K-beauty the best possible experience.
They have a wide selection of brands and products, many of which I highly recommend as I’ve had first hand experience with the brands they stock. At Skin2Seoul, you can discover multiple skincare products from brands such as Acwell, Aromatica, Banila Co., Haruharu Wonder, Heimish, Innisfree, Missha, Some By Mi and more. Including some of my personal favourites Isntree and Pyunkang Yul. On their website you can refine your search by brand, skin type, skin concern, and latest product arrivals. I really appreciate how they specify which products are Vegan friendly, and they also have sheet mask sets and gift sets. What’s there not to like!?
To get a taste of the quality of their products, I’ll be reviewing the Petitfée B-Glucan Deep Firming Eye Mask(s) which was recently added to Skin2Seoul.
Petitfée B-Glucan Deep Firming Eye Mask – £15
These masks revitalise the fatigued skin beneath the under-eyes with the help of Beta-Glucan, which retains moisture to firm the delicate skin of the under eye areas. Mushroom extracts bring in an element of nourishment to improve skin elasticity, and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. To be more specific, each mushroom fulfils a different purpose:
- Ganoderma Lucidum (reishi or linzhi mushroom) provides nutrients
- Inonotus Obliquus (Chaga mushroom) protects the skin barrier
- Tremella Fuciformis (snow fungus) helps to make skin appear more radiant and youthful
- Lentinus Edodes (shiitake mushroom) has hydrating properties
- Phellinus Linteus (grows on mulberry trees) promotes rejuvenation of skin.
These eye masks also contain a number of skin calming ingredients such as Camellia Sinensis leaf extract to reduce the redness or minor inflammation that often comes with sensitive or tired under eyes.
Water, butylene glycol, glycerin, polyglycerin-3, methyl gluceth-20, glyceryl glucoside, camellia sinensis leaf extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract, portulaca oleracea extract, ganoderma lucidum (mushroom) extract, inonotus obliquus (mushroom) extract, tremella fuciformis (mushroom) extract, lentinus edodes extract, phellinus linteus extract, glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed extract, angelica gigas root extract, morus alba bark extract, paeonia lactiflora root extract, polygonum multiflorum root extract, scutellaria baicalensis root extract, sophora flavescens root extract, cimicifuga racemosa root extract, allantoin, betaine, beta-glucan, sodium hyaluronate, ethylhexylglycerin, madecassoside, aminobutyric acid, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, dipropylene glycol, hydroxyacetophenone, caprylyl glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, glycereth-25 pca isostearate, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, arginine, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp copolymer, adenosine, disodium edta, fragrance.
Unlike hydrogel or agar jelly eye masks, these particular eye patches are made from soft cotton similar to that of a high quality sheet mask. This material holds the Glycerin and Beta-glucan rich essence better than hydrogel/hydrogel alternative patches, and therefore they are more hydrating. If you look closely at each eye mask, you can see the criss-cross pattern in the weaving of the material – this additionally helps the masks to adhere closely to skin without sliding down your face.
- A pot contains 60 pieces/30 pairs (70g)
- Comes with a pair of tweezers for hygienic removal from the tub
- Should be worn for 15~20 minutes for full effectiveness
- Can be used once daily, or at least multiple times in a week to keep skin firm and sufficiently hydrated.
In comparison to other eye masks I’ve used – some made of which were made of hydrogel and some were made from other materials – I can certainly say these cotton-type eye masks are much more hydrating. What’s more, they actually STAY PUT! They’re comfortable to wear and they are larger than most other eye patches, meaning they cover the entire under-eye and outer corners of the eyes to deliver the nutrient-dense essence to all areas of the under-eye which may be affected by puffiness, fine line and wrinkles (crow’s feet too).
Because these eye masks are so refreshing they have helped cool down and rehydrate my irritated under-eyes, which are currently sore and slightly inflamed due to the hay-fever season. For this reason I prefer to use them in the evening to bring relief to my under-eye areas at the end of the day when they are in most need of some TLC. Although, they are very handy for use in the morning if you have had a lack of sleep and are in need of a little pick-me-up to perk up the under-eyes. I suggest putting them in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to boost the cooling effect.
Last but not least, I must say that I think these eye masks are very affordable. As mentioned earlier, I’ve used similar products and they were almost double the price of these by Petitfée, but weren’t as easy to use nor were they as good at firming the under-eyes. For all of these reasons I would definitely use these patches again. This positive experience has made me realise that cotton-type eye masks are more beneficial overall and worth the small price.
