StyleKorean x Cosrx – Advanced Snail Mucin Line

Rate it, or overrated???

StyleKorean x Cosrx #trymereviewme

The Cosrx Snail Advanced Snail product line is undoubtedly the most widely recognised skincare line from Cosrx. If Cosrx’s pimple patches didn’t spark your interest in K-Beauty, then perhaps the Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence got the ball rolling for you. Snail Mucin is one of those skincare ingredients that seems a little strange at first, but for some it quickly becomes an ingredient which you don’t want to turn your back on.

For me, Snail Mucin helps to prevent my skin from looking dull. And is the ideal solution for keeping oily skin looking radiant and “glass” like without having to slather on a balm cream of some variation. So without dragging out this introductory paragraph any further, let me tell you a little about each of the Cosrx Advanced Snail Mucin products I’ve been using thought the month of January.

Starting off with the most sold product within the collection, the Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence raises the innate strength of skin with a mighty 96% of low-stimulation filtered snail mucinto revivalise damaged, sensitive, sensitised, mature, and dull skin types. In truth it is actually suitable for all skin types on either end of the spectrum – dry to oily – which could benefit from the rich nourishment of Chondroitin. Aside from the Cosrx Galactomyces Essence, this is one of my all-time favourites from Cosrx – it’s not my first time using it. From my perspective it’s not overrated at all. It keeps my skin firm and smooth, with improved plumpness and elasticity. So far I haven’t found a snail skincare product as effective as this one.

After applying the essence, once a week I have been using a Cosrx Advanced Snail Mucin Power Sheet Mask to top up on intensive hydration and refresh skin; especially since the central heating system has been dehydrating my skin this Winter. These cellulose sheet masks are drenched in essence consisting of 35,000 ppm snail mucin. This is the type of sheet mask which you can use just once in a while and it will still be effective. Its effects are immediate.

Before moving onto moisturiser, I delicately apply a miniscule amount of the Cosrx Advanced Snail Peptide Eye Cream, which is one of the slightly newer additions to the Advantage Snail range. Similarly to the other Cosrx Snail Mucin products this cream is rich and silky. It is intended to be used sparingly so that you can keep your undereye areas sufficiently hydrated and relatively crease free for a prolonged amount of time. Of course if you use it too generously your undereyes may feel uncomfortably sticky, and may disturb the placement of undereye concealer or similar base makeup.

On numerous occasions I’ve expressed my dislike for the majority of eye creams I’ve tested over the years, and usually favour gel-type eye creams. However, I’m actually enjoying this eye cream. I find it to be better than undereye patches, and as long as you use it in the correct quantity then you shouldn’t experience any downsides to this eye cream. I’d recommend it to anyone who has dry/flaky outer corners of the eye area, which are a challenge to keep hydrated during Winter, and may be red or dark in tone due to dryness and sensitivity.

I finish off this routine with the infamous Cosrx Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream. This jar of cream is packed with 92% Snail Secretion Filtrate to quench skin thirst, and encourage skin barrier repair. The cream provides effects akin to a collagen cream, by improving skin elasticity and restoring that glossy and ‘chewy’ skin texture which many of us aspire to have as we age. If you have dry or combination skin then you can simply use this cream both in your morning and evening skincare routines. If you have oily skin like I do, then your skin will feel more comfortable using the cream just once daily, preferably during your evening routine to allow the cream to gradually condition skin overnight.
