[Blogmas] Day 18: My Christmas Day Makeup.

I don’t think that writing about the makeup I will wear on Christmas Day will be particularly interesting, however I do know that for myself and some other we enjoy being nosy when it comes to the habits of other people. I never wear full makeup, i.e. I don’t wear mascara, highligher, bronzer, contour, blusher and very rarely eyeshadow; so if you are reading this with the hope of getting inspiration from a full makeup routine I think you will be disappointed by this post. Neverless I wanted to briefly detail the limited products I use as I think they are worth recommending. I also regard skincare as part of my makeup routine as without it base makeup application doesn’t adhere to skin as well as with it: even if a primer is used.

Step 1 – Mosturiser: For being the makeup for this upcoming day I will use a thicker, more cream based moisturiser to ensure that the makeup isn’t too matte nor drying. When changing between my regular, daily gel textured moisturiser I like to use up free samples rather than wasting money buy purchasing a tub or tube of a heavy cream which I most likely won’t use often. I have saved aside a sachet of The Face Shop ‘The Signature’ Covering Moisture Cream for this look; as the name suggests it is a rich skin conditioning moisturiser.

Step 2 – Serum: Rather than using an oil I prefer to opt for a serum. I’m currently testing out the Lirikos Marine Energy Serum which feels similar to silicone primers, but without the filling of pores as that’s not it’s function. I find that using a serum either under or over a moisturiser helps base makeup to not ‘bunch up’ in creases on or around eyelids.

Step 3 – Sun protection: I shall apply a ‘pea sized’ amount of SPF. I keep alternating between two similar suncreams: the Nature Republic Provence Calendula Fresh Sun Gel and the Mamonde Everyday Sun Cream which also contains Calendula. Any type of face suncream needs to be used sparingly (as long as you are wearing enough for sun protection) they are usually quite greasy.

Step 4 – Base makeup: If on Christmas Day I will have any spots (fingers crossed I won’t have) I will use a little of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade ‘fair 01’. Often I will wear just concealer and no foundation or bb cream, although I have a few foundation cushions that ideally I use up before they expire. I plan to take a little for the Innisfree Long Wear Cushion Foundation (shade 13). I apply base makeup with a sponge from Daiso or flat sponge puff that came with the compact.

Step 5Lip makeup: As I will be wearing a navy blouse with hint of burgundy throughout it’s checkered pattern, I will wear the Peri Pera Velvet Lip Tint in the colour Deep Celeb Rose. Pera Peri tints are very popular due to their longverity and boldness. I dislike wearing outstanding lip colours so I lightly dab the tint’s applicator onto my lips rather than in a sweeping brush motion. Ombre/gradient lip makeup continues to be a trend in Korea, so maybe I will try the look for creating a soft flush of colour.

Step 6Eyeshadow: I think I will wear a little mid toned eyeshadow, maybe only a thin stroke along my upper lash line. I have just one eyes shadow which is from Etude House named Satin Fit Eyes in the shade ‘BR405’. As an alternative I may buy Etude House’s Blend for Eye Quad palette in ‘Cosy Beige’ which includes: Dried Rose, Orange Party, Pink Up and Cosy Beige; all of which are shimmer eyeshadows.
